To live. To feel alive. Because I can. Because I’m human. Because my humanity demands it! Movement. We weren’t wired this way by accident. Our physical and mental health is by design, dependent on movement. We are designed to feel good when we move because survival depends on movement. This was an obvious truth when hunting, gathering, and farming; our existence depended on our ability and desire to do survival tasks, so our bodies are chemically and hormonally designed to make us feel good when doing them. It is a much less obvious truth in modern society, but no less relevant. The endorphasm is the moment during movement you feel anything is possible. Clarity. This podcast is the exploration of movement as the foundation for a productive, fulfilling, rewarding, most excellent life.

Welcome to Endorphasmic, where we talk about all things. Endorphasm. I am your hostess, erica Porter. Just to make sure that we understand the mission of endorphasmic and why I talk about, it's the endorphasm mindset. Endorphasm is about connecting yourself to your own power, to the power of the feeling, the feeling of the power, and movement is the catalyst for all of that. Movement centers us in a way where we are able to be completely connected with ourselves. It provides us an opportunity to move through literally everything. The human body was designed to move and there is no human body was designed to move and there is no human body that is the exception to that. Movement is a powerful piece in our living, our consciousness, our ability to understand our self-worth, our love for self, all of these things. But today is about reclaiming your power. You are in control, and this conversation really is for my cancer warriors and really anyone facing the challenges of a chronic issue. This is about reclaiming your power and understanding one fundamental truth you are in control, not cancer or any other chronic condition. We're going to dive deep into a topic that impacts so many lives taking back control. In the face of a diagnosis or chronic struggle, it's natural to feel overwhelmed. But today we're exploring actionable steps to help you reclaim if I can say that again your power and support your journey to really total well-being. So I want to ask you a question who are you beyond this diagnosis or beyond whatever issue you're struggling with? Let me start with this who are you as a whole and what is your life about? A diagnosis doesn't define you. It is a chapter in your story, not the entire book. Your life is about so much more. By taking an active role in your treatment and daily decisions, you have the opportunity to redefine your path. Engage in activities that bring you joy and purpose, reinforcing your identity.
Speaker 1:Beyond the diagnosis or chronic issue, it's important to move past fear and uncertainty. I think that fear is a natural response, but it can be paralyzing if left unchecked. You can transform that fear into action, and by doing so, or in order to do so, you have to start by focusing on what you can control. Learn everything you can about your condition and I put that in quotes, I don't really particularly like the word condition but learn everything you can about what's happening, because knowledge is power. It reduces the fear of the unknown, and I don't mean to go down a rabbit hole on Google that will send you into dying in two days. Knowledge is power. It reduces the fear of the unknown. I think that we can all reflect on past challenges that you've overcome and let those moments remind you of your strength and your resilience.
Speaker 1:Channel your energy into proactive not reactive, but proactive steps. Remember that every small action contributes to your overall well-being and I think part of the proactive steps is cultivating a mindful state. I think that the uncertainty of a cancer journey or any chronic issue can trigger anxiety and depression. Mindful, like mindfulness practices, whether it's meditation, deep breathing, journaling, whatever it is can really help anchor your thoughts and provide clarity. And I think that seeking support from counselors or support groups but in a positive way, because a lot of support groups, especially in the cancer space, are a lot of complaining, a lot of talking about what's wrong. What's going wrong, it's living in the space of what people are not controlling and that can be detrimental. So you have to really do your due diligence in seeking support, whether it's from a, from a professional or support groups that are really supportive and not destructive.
Speaker 1:Your entire day matters Work, play, movement, nourishment, sleep, purpose. Each moment is an opportunity. I support your total well-being, and part of that support is fueling your body in a way that is supportive of what your body really needs. Nutrition is critical, especially now, and what you feed your body has a profound impact on coping, recovery and absolutely healing. I think if you prioritize whole, nutrition-dense foods that fuel and support your body from the inside out, that's key.
Speaker 1:And if you're not sure where to start, consult with a registered dietitian. Registered dietitian Please avoid quick fixes or advice from unqualified sources. There's a lot of people that, because they have transformed their bodies or they have been meal prepping, feel that they are qualified to meal prep or to give nutritional advice. They are not A registered dietitian understands the impact of food. I am not a registered dietitian. Therefore, I do not and have never put people on eating plans.
Speaker 1:Your body deserves expert guidance and care. That's all part of building your support team. Your support team matters. It matters who you surround yourself with. That includes the medical professionals, your loved ones, individuals who are going to listen to you, respect your concerns and collaborate on a personalized treatment plan.
Speaker 1:Consider integrating conventional oncology with holistic practices, a combination of medical treatments, nutrition therapy, stress management. It really creates a very comprehensive approach that addresses your body, your mind and your spirit, really really important. Medicine and holistic care are not mutually exclusive. They are all one of the same. Unfortunately, most of the time in the United States we're having to seek two separate individuals. We have our conventional oncology and then individuals with holistic practices, and I wish that they weren't two separate things in most cases. But it's all encompassing and it all matters because it really does address your total the body, the mind and the spirit and you have to be an active participant in creating a healing environment.
Speaker 1:You have to take an active role in your care, understand your treatment options, ask questions, ensure that the plan aligns with your values, speak up, because it is your journey and your voice matters. Cultivate a healing environment, surround yourself with positive, supportive people and foster a mental space filled with hope and resilience. And discovering that inner resilience is one of the most valuable and important parts of this entire journey, for more, I think, than if I had not ever been on this journey. I think that adversity often reveals strength that we didn't know we had. Reflect on your past, embrace your resilience, focus on what's possible. A positive outlook fosters hope and it really does enhance your quality of life, even during the toughest of times, you're not alone on this journey. I think that with proactive involvement, the right support and a focus on healing inside and out, you get to reclaim control of your life, stay empowered, stay informed and, above all, stay committed to reclaiming your power.
